Corrections Officer Salary
The demand for corrections officers is on the rise. Longer prison terms and modifications to parole laws have led to need for more correctional officers. According to the Bureau of Labor statistics, in 2008, the yearly median salary for corrections officers was approximately $37,000 a year. Average annual salaries for corrections officer can range from $25,000 on the low end to over $60,000 a year on the high end. Officers working at federal prisons can increase their salary potential by earning a bachelor's degree from an accredited higher education institution.
