East Tennessee State University
East Tennessee State University (ETSU) is an accredited public university offering a wide range of degrees at all levels (undergraduate through doctoral). ETSU is located in Johnson City, Tennessee, and is the fourth largest university in that state. ETSU is a member institution of the Tennessee Board of Regents, which is the sixth largest public education system in the U.S. In addition to its main campus in Johnson City, ETSU also has off-campus centers in Elizabethton and Kingsport, Tennessee.ETSU was named one of "America's Best Value Colleges" by The Princeton Review. The university is comprised of 11 schools and colleges, which offer a wide range of reputable programs. These schools include the Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy, the College of Public Health, the College of Clinical and Rehabilitative Health Sciences, and the Quillen School of Medicine (which is ranked among the best schools in the country for primary care education and rural medicine). ETSU also offers a number of unique programs, such as a master's program in Storytelling (the only program of its kind in the U.S.), and a highly acclaimed program in Bluegrass, Old Time, and Country Music.
Online Degrees at ETSU
The ETSU online degree program is designed for those that are unable to enrol as a traditional full time students and attend a campus-based program. However, all online degrees are taught by the same faculty that teach on campus.Various techniques and technologies are employed to deliver its online courses - many of which are asynchronous and enable students to complete their coursework and interact with professors and classmates whenever or wherever they want. Online degrees and course are delivered over the Internet via a virtual ETSU classroom or via broadcast of a live, campus-based ETSU classroom. Unlike asychronous courses, synchronous courses require students to attend class online, via their computer, at specific times each week when classes are meeting.
Online undergraduate degree programs offered 100% online include allied health, interdisciplinary studies, professional studies, human services, dental hygience, nursing and public health. Other undergraduate degrees that can be completedly mostly online include economics, English, finance, management, marketing, sociology and psychology. Graduate degrees offered entirely online include educational leadership, educational media and technology, and teaching and learning studies. Graduate degrees that can completed mostly online include elementary education, early childhood education, and reading.
