American Jewish University

The American Jewish University (AJU) began as two different organizations (University of Judaism and Brandeis-Bardin Institute). AJU is now a thriving non-denominational school in Los Angeles, California. The Whizin Center for Continuing Education is the heart of the institution. Nearly 12,000 students take non-credit courses every year and have the opportunity to learn from influential speakers such as Colin Powell and Tony Blair.

The Whizin Center also offers various other programs. The individual classes offered for personal enjoyment and instruction include various offerings in areas of study such as literature, fine and performing arts and language studies.

Students looking for bachelors degrees in the College of Arts and Sciences can study Business, Jewish Studies, Bioethics (pre-med) and many other disciplines. The David L. Lieber Graduate School, the Fingerhut School of Education and the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies offer respected graduate degrees.

AJU hosts the Miller Introduction to Judaism Program, which teaches interfaith couples and families to prepare students for conversions to Judaism. Think tanks are also used in the program. Students are permitted to design their own courses of study, both majors and minors, in consultation with approved academic advisors. Students are encouraged by the College to seek out leadership roles, not only on campus but throughout the community.
