Art Center College of Design
Art Center College of Design (Art Center), set in Pasadena, California, is a private college that is home to a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate programs. Most of the degrees are offered in art and design fields. There are also public programs for younger students and adults continuing their education in the Los Angeles area. It is among few schools with a degree available in Interaction Design. There are two campuses in Pasadena and both are recognized as notable in the architectural field.Art Center is also known as a vocational school, which began awarding degrees in 1949 by preparing returning G.I.’s for working in commercial arts fields. In 2003, Art Center was the first design college to receive non-governmental organization (NGO) status from the United Nations for its commitment to social and humanitarian issues.
DesignIntelligence consistently ranks Art Center’s undergraduate and graduate programs in industrial design as the best in the country. The program in Art, Industrial Design and Media Design Practices has been ranked in the Top 20 by U.S. News and World Report. Art Center also earned its way onto the Hollywood Reporter’s list of Top 25 Global Film Schools.
