Auburn University
With approximately 25,000 students and over 1,000 faculty members, Auburn University (AU) is one of the larger universities in the state of Alabama. AU is a public, highly ranked university. For many consecutive years, the school has been ranked among the top 50 universities in the United States. News and World report has also ranked Auburn within the top 48 public universities in the nation.Many of the individual programs offered within the university's 13 colleges/schools at AU are also ranked among the nation’s best programs within each respective field of study. Some of these programs include: pharmacy, engineering, forestry, architecture, business as well as veterinary science. The Department of Leadership, Foundations & Technology has been ranked among the top 10 in the nation. The college’s Construction, Design and Architecture program was the first in the nation to offer a master's degree in Design Build. In addition, AUs interior design program has been ranked among the top ten in the nation.
Auburn University is prominent member of the Southeastern Conference, an American college athletic conference based in Birmingham, Alabama. It is also a member of the SEC Academic Consortium (SECU). The mission of the SECU is to enhance collaborative academic endeavors of all universities within the Southeastern Conference.
Through its school of continuing and distance education Auburn University offers programs that can be completed online. Programs are available at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The university also offer online professional credit and personal enrichment programs. Online undergraduate programs are offered through the university's college of agriculture, business, education, engineering, liberal arts, and mathematics. Online graduate programs are offered through the same academic colleges. Online professional credit and personal enrichment programs are offered in various area of study including dietetics, agriculture, pharmacy, engineering and education.
