Biola University
Biola University is an evangelical Christian university in La Mirada, California. The university is a liberal arts institution offering 40 undergraduate programs and 145 professional programs. Most of Biola's students are either Baptist or Evangelical Free; however, the university itself is officially non-denominational, and its students and faculty represent a wide range of perspectives. Biola is committed to conservative evangelical doctrine, in contrast to many other evangelical institutions which are more liberal or moderate. There are a wide range of degree programs available at Biola University, including B.A., B.S., B.F.A., B.M., M.B.A., M.A., Th.M., M.Div., D.Miss., D.Min., Ed.D., Psy.D., and Ph.D programs. All degree programs include training in evangelical Christian doctrine, and all students must take 30 units of Bible classes. Because of this, all students, regardless of their chosen major, earn a minor in theological and Biblical studies.
U.S. News & World Report ranked Biola University 177th out of 281 national universities, in the publication's list of the "Best National Universities." It was included in the first tier of this list, and was one of only two universities in the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities to be ranked so well. Additionally, U.S. News listed Biola as one of America's 19 "Up and Coming" national universities.
