Faulkner University
Located in Montgomery, Alabama, this private university is affiliated with the Church of Christ. Faulkner University offers more than 40 different majors within five schools, which are subdivided into around 12 divisions. The five schools that comprise Faulker University include: the Harris College of Business & Executive Education, the V.P. Black School of Biblical Studies, the College of Education, the Kearley Graduate School of Theology as well as the Alabama Christian College of Arts and Sciences.The university was first established in 1942 as Montgomery Bible School. Since then it has undergone several name changes. About 11 years after it was founded, the school became Alabama Christian College or ACC. Twelve years after that, the school relocated to its current location, on the Atlanta Highway. In 1975, the school established several satellite campuses. Today satellite campuses are located in Mobile, Birmingham and Huntsville. In 1985 school received its current name, Faulkner University, in honor of Dr. James H. Faulkner, Sr. (the chairman of the board and a large supporter).
Faulkner is a fully accredited college and offers associates, bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees in various fields of study. The university also has a fully accredited law school - Thomas Goode Jones School of Law.
Faulkner University is regionally accredited to award associate, bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). The university's legal studies program is approved by the American Bar Association's Standing Committee on Paralegals and its Teacher Education programs are professionally accredited through the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
