Judson College
Established in 1838 by the Siloam Baptist Church of Marion, Alabama, Judson College was once known as Judson Female Institute. One of the nation’s oldest women’s colleges, Judson was once affiliated with the Alabama Baptist Convention. The college is primarily an undergraduate institution that offers bachelor’s degree programs in the fields of liberal arts and pre-professional areas of study.Maintaining their “women’s college” status, Judson continues to participate in “big sister/little sister” traditional exercises. All entering freshmen students are matched up with a “big sister” within the sophomore class. Then, throughout their sophomore year, they will be invited to many “secret” traditional ceremonies through which the “big sister” will help and lead them. They will then earn the knowledge and materials needed to in-turn pass these traditions on to a “little sister” the following year.
Judson College offers undergraduate, graduate, adult professional and online degree programs in various fields of study including architecture, art & design, ministry, education, leadership, English, film, digital design, music, criminal justice, science, pre-law, and business administration, among others. Online degree are offered in business administration (online MBA), management and leadership, and general education. The college also offers various online courses and certificate programs.
Judson College is a regionally accredited institution. Many of its individual academic programs also maintain discipline specific professional accreditations. The college is affiliated with various community, education and religious organizations including the American Baptist Churches in the USA, Association of Christian Schools International and Christians in the Visual Arts, among many others.
