Lake Forest Graduate School of Management

In the first half of the 20th century, local industry in the Lake Forest, Illinois area was experiencing a myriad of problems, largely due to a lack of trained and educated business managers. This need for qualified business leadership spurned the creation of Lake Forest Graduate School of Management, a not-for-profit business school dedicated to providing quality business management education.

The School was initially founded in 1946 by three companies: Johns-Manville Products Corporation, Abbott Laboratories, and Fansteel Metallurgical Corporation. These companies, in cooperation with Lake Forest College, established the Lake Forest College Industrial Management Institute (IMI). IMI provided business training to returning WWII veterans, an arrangement which was mutually beneficial for the veterans and for the area's local industry.

Later on, IMI changed it name to Lake Forest Graduate School of Management and separated from Lake Forest College. It has since become the leading business education institution in the Chicago metropolitan area. It now offers MBA degree programs online, and is the fastest growing online MBA university in the country.

Lake Forest Graduate School of Management Online Degrees

Lake Forest Graduate School of Management now offers the iMBA, a fully online MBA program which immerses students in a virtual-reality business with real customers, products, competitors and business opportunities. 75% of of a student's time is spent in the virtual-reality business environment. During the remainder of the program students complete group projects, interact with other students (“co-workers”), learn business theory, and develop and implement business solutions for real-world business problems.
