Lurleen B. Wallace Community College
Lurleen B. Wallace Community College (LBWCC) is a community college with a total annual enrollment of approximately 1,800 students. The college operates campuses in Greenville, Opp, and Andalusia, Alabama. Founded in 1969, LBWCC was named in honor of Governor Lurleen Burns Wallace. The college merged with Douglas MacArthur State Technical College in 2003. In addition to its many academic offerings, LBWCC boasts a healthy athletics program, which fields teams in the Alabama Community College Conference of the National Junior College Athletic Association.LBWCC offers programs in various fields of study including Applied Technology, Nursing, Business-Information Technology, Allied Health Sciences, Language, Fine Arts, Humanities and Mathematics and Science. The college also offers a variety of continuing education and accelerated programs.
For student requiring a more convenient and flexible degree option, LBWCC offers four distance education formats: Online, Hybrid, Telecourse and CD/DVD. The online degree option allows students work toward earning their degree by completing courses online, remotely from their home or office. Hybrid programs allow students to combine campus-based learning with online courses.
Lurleen B. Wallace Community College is regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award Associate of Art (AA), Associate of Science (AS) and Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degrees and professional certificates. Credits earned via an AA or AS degree at the college are transferable to any other regionally accredited college or university in the United States.
