Southern California Institute of Architecture
The Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) is an non-profit, independent school offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs in architecture. Located in Los Angeles, California, SCI-Arc is renowned for pushing the limits of architecture beyond our current capabilities and conceptions. Through exploration and testing, the institute's students and faculty (many of whom are practicing architects) discover ways to expand the boundaries of architecture.SCI-Arc enrolls approximately 500 students. Half of these students are undergraduates, the other half are graduate students. At the undergraduate level, the institute offers a five-year Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) program. At the graduate level, students with prior academic experience in architecture can enroll in a 2-year Master of Architecture (M.Arch) program, while students with no prior academic experience can enroll in a 3-year Master of Architecture program. All of SCI-Arc's programs are accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) and by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
SCI-Arc also offers two postgraduate programs in Emerging Systems, Technologies, & Media (ESTm) and City Design, Planning, & Policy (Future Initiatives). Each of these programs take one year to complete, and culminate in a SCI-Arc Master of Design Research Degree (MDesR).
