University of Alabama-Huntsville
There are three schools in University of Alabama System, and the University of Alabama-Huntsville is the top option for most students within the system. Alabama-Huntsville and the other two schools (Alabama-Birmingham and Alabama-Tuscaloosa) operate independently, but the presidents of each school report annually to a common Board of Trustees. The enrollment at Alabama-Huntsville is around 7,500 students a year.The school is accredited by the Southern Association of College and Schools, and offers many degree options. Its six degree granting academic schools include schools of nursing, science, engineering, business, liberal arts and business, as well as the honors college.
A total of 71 degree programs are offered, which includes over 30 bachelor’s programs and 23 master's programs. The university also offers 15 Ph.D programs. Alabama-Huntsville is known for its top caliber nursing program which is one of the largest programs the school offers. However, the Engineering college is still the largest, and most popular, program the university offers. The Honors College is available for top performing students who wish to enhance their learning experience.
In addition to an exemplary academic offering, Alabama-Huntsville provides various experience enhancing clubs, organizations and activities student can get involved in. The UAH Student Government Associations is one of the most popular student organizations on campus and provides student the opportunity to get involved in every aspect of student affairs and campus activity. The is also a student newspaper and various special interest clubs and organizations students can join.
For non-traditional student seeking the opportunity to earn a degree, UAH offers several distance learning and online degree options. Currently, online learning options are available at the undergraduate and graduate levels in education, engineering, nursing and interdisciplinary studies. To participate in online degree and distance learning opportunities at The University of Alabama in Huntsville student must first be accepted to the general academic program.
As regionally accredited institution, credits earned at UAH are transferable to other regionally accredited higher education institutions – which includes most four year colleges and universities in the United States.
