The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) is a public research university in Chicago, Illinois. UIC is a state-funded institution, and operates the largest medical school in the country. The university is the primary provider of healthcare education to the state of Illinois' physicians, pharmacists, nurses, dentists, and physical therapists.

There are 74 bachelor's degree, 77 master's degree, and 60 doctoral degree programs available at UIC. The university is composed of 14 academic colleges, a specialized undergraduate Honors College, and an omnibus Graduate College.

There are 11 inter-college programs (some organized as centers) available at UIC: the Neuroscience Program, the Cancer Center, the Council for Teacher Education, the Center for Structural Biology, Graduate Education in Medical Sciences, the Office of International Affairs, the Moving Image Arts Program, the Study Abroad Office, the Guaranteed Professional Programs Admissions program, the National Center of Excellence in Women's Health, and the Office of Special Scholarship Programs.

U.S. News & World Report ranks UIC as the 128th best university in the United States. The Times Higher Education World University Rankings ranked UIC at #11 on its list of the best universities in the world less than 50 years old. The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) placed UIC in the top 15 percent of 467 accredited programs. UIC's College of Business Administration ranked #1 in the Chicago area, and #56 among all accredited business programs in the United States, according to U.S. News & World Report.

Through the university's School of Continuing Studies and UIC Online, students at the University of Illinois Chicago can pursue their degree online. Online distance learning degrees are offered in various fields of study including Health Sciences, Education, Engineering, Medicine, Nursing, Urban Planning and Public Affairs and Public Health. Online degrees are offered at the bachelor's, master's, doctoral and certificate levels. Their are also online non-credit programs available for students.
