University of San Francisco
The University of San Francisco (USF) is a Jesuit Catholic institution of higher learning located in San Francisco, California. It is the eighth largest Jesuit university in the country, the tenth oldest institution in the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities, and the third oldest university in the state of California. USF is nicknamed "The Hilltop" due to its location on the peak of one of the city's major hills, Lone Mountain. USF's main campus is situated between the Golden Gate Bridge and Golden Gate Park.Among USF's most appealing and popular programs are its sponsored semester programs, which send students to such countries as Australia, Belgium, Chile, China, England, France, Hungary, Italy, Korea, Mexico, the Netherlands, Poland, South Africa, Singapore, and Uruguay, among others. USF has written agreements with overseas universities in these countries, so students can take classes abroad and receive full transfer credits in the process. Additionally, USF offers internship programs in many foreign countries, including Ecuador, Australia, Ireland, and Scandinavia. These programs provide students with real-world work experience, and allow them to continue their coursework simultaneously at a foreign university.
U.S. News & World Report ranked USF 106th among all national universities. The university's nursing program was ranked 50th among all nursing programs in the United States by the same publication. Washington Monthly ranked USF the 123rd best university in the country, based on its contribution to the public good. Furthermore, USF was ranked the best non-historically black college in the United States for minority students by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education. Business Insider ranked USF #23 on its list of "most underrated" colleges in the nation.
Many of the graduate degrees offered by the University of San Francisco are now also available via online distance learning. Currently, the university offers six online graduate degrees. These include the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Master of Public Administration (MPA), Master of Science in Health Informatics (MSHI), Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages with a concentration in Digital Media and Learning (MATESOL), Master of Arts (MA) in Digital Technologies for Teaching and Learning (DTTL), and Master in Collegiate Athletics (MCA). (Note: Due to new regulations, online programs at USF are not available to residents of Maryland, Iowa, Alabama, Arkansas, Wisconsin or Massachusetts.)
