Writing Degree

Although becoming a professional writer is very difficult, there are many career opportunities for skilled writers. Opportunities are available in journalism, technical writing, web content writing, marketing, public relations, and editing. Likewise, most companies and organizations prefer to hire individuals with excellent writing skills. The fact is very few people write well, those that do are in high demand.

Entry-level writing related jobs can typically be obtained with a bachelor's degree. Those interested in technical writing positions should complete classes in subjects related to the field where they'd prefer to work, which could include medicine, science, or law. Most students enrolled in writing degree programs will be required to complete courses in creative writing, Western literature, business writing, editing, and grammar and composition.
