Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing
The Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University is named after Frances Payne Bolton--the first woman elected to Congress from Ohio. Not only was she Ohio’s first congresswoman, but she was also the original financial backer of the School of Nursing. The Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing (or FPB) is recognized world-wide as a leader in research and nursing education. It is ranked among the top nursing schools in the United States. Many of the school's programs are highly-ranked as well. The nurse anesthesia, gerontology nurse practitioner, and nurse midwifery are all ranked among the top 20 programs in the nation.Students at FPB receive almost twice the amount of clinical experience throughout the course of their studies as students who attend other nursing schools. FPB students receive their clinical hours at a nonprofit agency or at a local, world-class hospital. Their clinic hours begin the third week of school, allowing them more hands-on experience than most other nursing students receive.
