The University of Maryland Baltimore (UMB) School of Nursing is among the largest and oldest nursing schools in the United States. The nursing education at UMB focuses on current healthcare issues and needs, both here in the U.S. and across the world. The UMB is well-known for its innovative and cutting edge nursing programs. UMB recognizes how important it is for nurses to be familiar with changing technology as well as current health policies. That's why UMB created the first program in the United States for nursing health policies as well as the world's first program in nursing informatics. UMBs School of Nursing has been ranked among the top ten nursing schools in the nation for over a decade.Graduate-level programs at the school of nursing are offered in over 20 concentrations and areas of specialized study. Just a few of the nursing specialties offered at UMB include oncology, nursing administration, gerontology, trauma and critical care. Programs for Nurse Practitioners are also available in neonatal intensive care, acute care, women’s health, family and adult primary care, among others. UMBs School of Nursing is the only institution in the state to offer a program in midwifery.
