Computer Programming Degree

Computer programmers specialize in programming computer languages, which include object-oriented, structured query, and advanced visual basic languages. These languages or "code" are the instructions that control and regulate computer functions. A degree in computer programming prepares students for a career working with and developing a variety of computer languages.

Entry-level programming positions can be obtained with an associate's degree, but as with most other professions, those with bachelor's or graduate degrees will have better job opportunities. Most computer technology firms prefer to hire applicants with a college degree and applicable work experience. Since computer programming degrees are now available online, it's possible to work full-time and earn a degree simultaneously.
