Information Assurance Degree

Information assurance specialists are primarily responsible for ensuring software, databases, and computer networks are protected from hackers, unauthorized intrusions and other online threats. To do this, they audit systems to check for threats, write protected software that cannot be penetrated by hackers, and implement other network security efforts.

Degree programs in information assurance are available at the bachelor's and graduate degree levels. These programs typically include instruction in system administration, software maintenance, network security and auditing, and systems security evaluation. Many accredited colleges and universities now offer information assurance degree programs that can be completed online. Some schools offer programs that combine online classes with campus classes. Online degrees in information assurance are designed for IT professionals with career commitments and demanding schedules.
